Elevator at Washington/Wabash Temporarily Out-of-Service
The Brown Line and Harlem-bound Green Line platform elevator at Washington/Wabash is temporarily out-of-service due to an electrical issue.
The elevator is currently estimated to return to service on Wednesday April 8th, 2026 (Note: date subject to change).
Crews are working to return this elevator to service as quickly as possible.
Boarding Change, Delays Between Harlem and Central
How does this affect my trip?
Board/exit all trains on the Harlem/Lake-bound side of the platform at the Oak Park, Ridgeland, and Austin stations.
Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Harlem and Central, resulting in minor delays.
Allow extra travel time.
Why is service being changed?
We are performing track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Green Line.

Austin Main Stationhouse Temporarily Closed, Use Mason Auxiliary Entrance
How does this affect my trip?
The Austin Green Line station’s main stationhouse will be temporarily closed. Please use the temporary Mason Street entrance/exit located one block east of Austin.
Why is service being changed?
The CTA is committed to making our system 100% accessible. We are installing an elevator at the Austin Green Line station as part of CTA’s All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) to improve system accessibility across the city and neighboring communities we serve.
State/Lake Elevated Station Temporary Closure
How does this affect my trip?
Effective, Monday, January 5, 2026, the State/Lake Loop Elevated station will temporarily close.
Please use the accessible Clark/Lake or Washington/Wabash stations, located within a few blocks of the State/Lake station. To transfer between the Red Line at Lake station and the Loop ‘L’ lines, use Washington/Wabash.
Why is service being changed?
The new State/Lake elevated station is scheduled to open in 2029. It will replace one of the oldest stations on the CTA rail system with a modern facility designed to improve safety, accessibility, and comfort for all riders.
