The elevator at 35th-Bronzeville-IIT (Green Line) is temporarily out-of-service due to an electrical issue.
The elevator is currently estimated to return to service on Monday August 31st, 2026. (Note: date subject to change).
Crews are working to return this elevator to service as quickly as possible.

Austin Station Main Entrance Reopens
How does this affect my trip?
The Austin Green Line station’s main entrance will reopen on Fri, Aug. 7 at 1pm. The station will be accessible to people with disabilities and include these new features:
- Accessibility: New elevator from street-to-platform and an ADA-compliant ramp for entry
- Main Entrance: Staffed entrance at Austin/Lake (NE corner) reopens for easier street and bus transfers
- Rider Info: Real-time elevator information, updated maps and new Braille signage
Why is service being changed?
These station improvements were made as part of the All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP), which advances our goal of 100% systemwide accessibility across the city and surrounding communities.
State/Lake Elevated Station Temporary Closure
How does this affect my trip?
Effective, Monday, January 5, 2026, the State/Lake Loop Elevated station will temporarily close.
Please use the accessible Clark/Lake or Washington/Wabash stations, located within a few blocks of the State/Lake station. To transfer between the Red Line at Lake station and the Loop ‘L’ lines, use Washington/Wabash.
Why is service being changed?
The new State/Lake elevated station is scheduled to open in 2029. It will replace one of the oldest stations on the CTA rail system with a modern facility designed to improve safety, accessibility, and comfort for all riders.
