The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration invites residents, business owners and stakeholders to attend the upcoming open house meetings for the Southern Maryland Rapid Transit (SMRT) Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) Study. These meetings will present the latest technical project analysis, including projected ridership, cost, and environmental and economic impacts, and will help identify potential transit solutions for Southern Maryland. The SMRT project aims to provide an alternative travel option between Southern Maryland and the Washington, D.C. region. The first meeting will be held in Prince George's County December 4 and the second in Charles County on December 10; both meetings will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. A virtual meeting also will be held on December 11 at 6 p.m. Details for that are available on the project website https://smrtmaryland.com/. Commuter Bus Service Advisory – December 4, 2025 (103rd National Tree Lighting Ceremony)
Due to the road closures associated with the 102nd National Tree Lighting Ceremony, please review the following guidance to ensure a safe and efficient commute home. Route 305 will NOT serve the following stops during pm service: • Constitution Ave. bet. 14th & 15th Streets., N.W. • 18th St. & C St., N.W. • 18th St. & E St., N.W. • 18th and Pennsylvania Ave. Passengers may safely board the bus at the following stop locations: • 18th St. & K St., N.W. • Constitution Ave. & 9th St., N.W. Route 325 Trips 4, 5 and 6 will NOT make stops at the following stop locations: • Constitution Ave between 14th and 15th Streets • 18th and C Streets • 18th and E Streets • 18th and Pennsylvania Ave. Passengers may safely board the bus at the following stops: • 15th St. bet. M St. & Massachusetts Ave., N.W. • 18th St. & K St., N.W. Routes 335 and 345 Trips will NOT service the following stops: • 19th and M Streets • 19th and K Streets • 19th Street between Pennsylvania Ave and H Street • 19th and E Streets • Constitution Ave. & 14th St., N.W. Instead, passengers may board Routes 335 and 345 at one of the following stops: • Constitution Ave and 10th • 7th Street and Constitution Ave • Independence Ave between 7th and 6th Streets • Independence Ave between 4th and 3rd Streets • Independence Ave and 1st Street Additionally, passengers on Routes 335 and 345 can ride either route out of Washington DC to Broken Land Park and Ride and then transfer at no charge at Broken Land Park and Ride to reach their destination. Route 630 will NOT make stops at the following locations during pm service: • 19th Street between Pennsylvania Ave and H Street • 19th and E Streets • Constitution Ave and 14th Street • 19th St. & K St., N.W. Passengers may safely board the bus at the following stops: • L St. & 25th St., N.W. • Independence Ave. & 12th St., S.W. All other D.C. routes can anticipate significant delays due to the increased traffic and detours. Please plan your commute accordingly and check the MTA website (mta.maryland.gov) periodically for the most up-to-date service information.
