From late August through late November, 2026, South Station restrooms will be under construction. Temporary restroom facilities have been positioned along Atlantic Ave.
Affected lines: Fairmount Line Fall River/New Bedford Line Framingham/Worcester Line Franklin/Foxboro Line Greenbush Line Kingston Line Needham Line Providence/Stoughton Line
Fare Validation Machines are being installed at all Fairmount Line stations. Passengers will need to validate their fare to scan through the gates at South Station.
• Fare Vending Machines will be available for customer use immediately after install. • Customers can purchase tickets and reload CharlieCards. • Customers can ALSO use a Rapid Transit Pass or Stored Value on a CharlieCard to Validate. • Installation of machines are dependent on weather and availability of flagging resources.
