To exit, exit the train at Ruggles or Back Bay, then take a Forest Hills-bound train to Forest Hills and use Forest Hills Elevator 842. To board, use Forest Hills Elevator 842 to access the Orange Line platform, then take a Oak Grove-bound train to Ruggles or Back Bay and transfer to the Commuter Rail. Check the Commuter Rail train schedules for train arrival/departure times at Ruggles and Back Bay by visiting mbta.com/schedules.
The Franklin/Foxboro line will experience service and schedule changes due to Amtrak infrastructure repair work. Passengers can expect delays of up to 25 minutes in both directions.
Starting August 11, Foxboro outbound trains 1725, 1731, 1739 & inbound trains 1732, 1740 & 1748 will be temporarily removed from the schedule. Passengers can use the Franklin Line for stops between South Station & Walpole to connect with a bus to Foxboro.
This schedule adjustment will allow Amtrak to continue to make emergency repairs following a fire at a signal bungalow caused by a downed Amtrak overhead wire on August 1. At the same time, the MBTA and Keolis will begin construction of a permanent, accessible platform at Foxboro Station, while Amtrak repairs are underway. The schedule changes will be in effect between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays, and updated schedules will be available soon. Inbound train 744 (the 1:20 p.m. from Franklin) will run via the Fairmount Line to provide service to affected passengers between Fairmount and South Station. Special event trains for concerts and Patriots games at Gillette Stadium will continue to operate during construction. All inbound Franklin/Foxboro trains will bypass Forest Hills, Ruggles & Back Bay. After 9:00 am, all Franklin Line trains will terminate & originate at Franklin. Passengers will be accommodated by shuttle bus between Forge Park and Franklin.
Affected direction: Inbound Inbound Franklin/Foxboro Line passengers traveling to Forest Hills, Ruggles, or Back Bay may: - Transfer to a Providence Line train at Readville (Track 4) - Stay on inbound Franklin/Foxboro train to South Station then transfer to an outbound train or the subway. AFTER 9:00 A.M: Forge Park passengers should arrive 20 minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled train departure to take connecting shuttle bus service to Franklin Station for a connection with an inbound train for continued inbound service to South Station.
South Station Pedal & Park is closed due to construction. Bicycle racks are currently available on Atlantic Ave adjacent to the South Station main entrance.
