General Message
10/24-10/25 & 10/31-11/1 STATION CLOSURES, BUSING SUBSTITUTION: There will be NO SERVICE to Museum Campus or Van Buren Street stations on Oct. 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 31, and Nov. 1. SSL passengers are advised weekend busing substitution will be in place between Millennium Station and 18th Street Station in Chicago on 10/24-10/25 & 10/31-11/1, due to construction. IMPORTANT: 18th Street Station contains a large flight of stairs. Passengers with disabilities, including those with mobility limitations or difficulty using stairs, will be shuttled between Millennium Station and McCormick Place throughout the busing weekends. Bicycles will be prohibited on the buses, but can be transported via train to/from the McCormick Place option.

10/18/26 MILLENNIUM STATION: Millennium Station depot switch effective Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026. Beginning at 6 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, through 4 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19, 2026: All South Shore Line passengers utilizing Millennium Station on Sunday will temporarily board/detrain from the Metra Depot, located northwest of the SSL platform. This depot switch includes ALL South Shore Line Sunday trains. After 4 a.m. Monday, all weekday passengers will return to utilizing the SSL platform.

10/15-10/23 KIDS RIDE FREE: SSL announces Kids Ride Free (children 13 years of age and younger) will be expanded to include ALL trains Thursday, Oct. 15, through Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. SSL has selected this promotional time frame to cover a large portion of scheduled fall breaks across the four-county area. No ticket purchases are needed for kids riding free.

CHICAGO CONSTRUCTION IMPACTS: SSL passengers are advised that ongoing construction in downtown Chicago will begin a new phase that will affect weekday train operations beginning Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, in the area of Millennium and Van Buren Street stations. The construction will result in limited train capacity, with reduced seating on select trains; as well as potential train delays due to Metra substation work.

The Metra Millennium Station elevator is out of service until further notice. Recommended alternative accessible locations are Van Buren or Museum Campus/11th St. Please visit https://www.mysouthshoreline.com/riders/ada for more information on alternative elevator locations.

The Lakeshore Corridor route, frequently referred to as the South Shore Line, runs between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana. Intermediate stops are made in Hammond, Gary, and Michigan City.
