The Lakeshore Corridor route, frequently referred to as the South Shore Line, runs between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana. Intermediate stops are made in Hammond, Gary, and Michigan City.

As a result of busing substitution related to the incident, passengers utilizing South Shore Line trains today, June 27, are advised to expect significant delays. 6/27-7/5/26 WEEKEND SCHEDULE, BUSING: Passengers are advised that the South Shore Line will continue Lakeshore Corridor and Monon Corridor service with the operation of a WEEKEND/HOLIDAY train schedule through Friday, July 3, 2026, with busing between Miller and Hegewisch stations through Sunday, July 5. The bus bridge will be in place for eastbound and westbound passengers at Miller, Gary Metro Center, Gary/Chicago Airport, East Chicago, Hammond Gateway, and Hegewisch. No bikes will be permitted on buses. Buses will arrive and depart with passengers between Miller and Hegewisch stations according to the SSL published train schedule and MAKE ALL STATION STOPS. Please be advised delays are expected due to the busing.

In an effort to help families enjoy summer, the program will be available on all weekday trains during this promotion June 29-July 3 (please note Friday, July 3, 2026, is a regular weekday train schedule). No ticket purchase is needed for kids riding free.

6/27 SOLDIER FIELD SERVICE: To accommodate passengers attending Ed Sheeran taking place at 5:30p, Sat., 6/27/26, at Soldier Field, the South Shore Line plans to stop the following trains at Metra’s 18th Street Station: WB Tr 508, Tr 610; and EB Tr 515, Tr 517, Tr 601* *NOTE: EB Tr 601 terminates in Michigan City and does not serve Hudson Lake/South Bend.
