The Lakeshore Corridor route, frequently referred to as the South Shore Line, runs between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana. Intermediate stops are made in Hammond, Gary, and Michigan City.

SERVICE ADVISORY – METRA SWITCH FAILURE Due to a Metra switch failure near Museum Campus, South Shore Line passengers traveling into Chicago during the rush hour may experience delays arriving at 11th Place, Van Buren Street, and Millennium Station. The extent of the delays is unknown at this time. We are monitoring the situation with Metra and will provide additional updates as more information becomes available. Passengers should arrive at their boarding station at the regularly scheduled time and allow additional travel time. Please listen for station and onboard announcements and check station reader boards for the latest service information. We appreciate your patience while Metra works to resolve the issue.

CHICAGO CONSTRUCTION IMPACTS: SSL passengers are advised that ongoing construction in downtown Chicago will begin a new phase that will affect weekday train operations beginning Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, in the area of Millennium and Van Buren Street stations. The construction will result in limited train capacity, with reduced seating on select trains; as well as potential train delays due to Metra substation work.

10/11/26 CHICAGO MARATHON EXTRAS: The SSL will operate two extra trains on Oct. 11. The early morning westbound Extra train will depart Michigan City Carroll Ave. Station at 4:20a, make all intermediate stops and arrive at Millennium Station at 5:40a. The return eastbound Extra train will depart Millennium Station at 2:35p (Van Buren St. at 2:37p), run non-stop to Hegewisch, and terminate at Carroll Ave. The Extra trains will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
