The Lakeshore Corridor route, frequently referred to as the South Shore Line, runs between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana. Intermediate stops are made in Hammond, Gary, and Michigan City.

6/26/26 WEEKEND SCHEDULE, BUSING: Passengers are advised that the South Shore Line will resume Lakeshore Corridor and Monon Corridor service with the operation of a WEEKEND/HOLIDAY train schedule on Friday, June 26, 2026, utilizing busing between Miller and Hegewisch stations. The bus bridge will be in place for eastbound and westbound passengers at Miller, Gary Metro Center, Gary/Chicago Airport, East Chicago, Hammond Gateway, and Hegewisch. No bikes will be permitted on buses. Buses will arrive and depart with passengers between Miller and Hegewisch stations according to the SSL published train schedule and MAKE ALL STATION STOPS; however, please be advised delays are expected due to the busing.

6/29-7/3 KIDS RIDE FREE: Kids Ride Free on all trains June 29 – July 3, 2026. In an effort to help families enjoy summer, the program will be available on all weekday trains during this promotion June 29-July 3 (please note Friday, July 3, 2026, is a regular weekday train schedule). No ticket purchase is needed for kids riding free.

6/27 SOLDIER FIELD SERVICE: To accommodate passengers attending Ed Sheeran taking place at 5:30p, Sat., 6/27/26, at Soldier Field, the South Shore Line plans to stop the following trains at Metra’s 18th Street Station: WB Tr 508, Tr 610; and EB Tr 515, Tr 517, Tr 601* *NOTE: EB Tr 601 terminates in Michigan City and does not serve Hudson Lake/South Bend.

UPDATE: Following a 6/24 freight train derailment/power loss: As of today, Thursday, June 25, partial service will be restored to the Monon Corridor afternoon rush hour only, effective with eastbound Monon Corridor Train #303 departing Millennium Station at 3:30pm. Following Tr 303, departures will include EB Tr 305, Tr 307, Tr 309, Tr 311, and WB Tr 312. Lakeshore Corridor service remains suspended throughout this evening. In place of Monon shuttle train service this evening, SSL will operate four Extra Monon Corridor trains. Passengers please be advised delays are expected due to the nature of the situation. WB 7:30pm departure from Munster/Dyer to Millennium Station. EB 9:00pm departure from Millennium Station to Munster/Dyer. WB 10:30pm departure from Munster/Dyer to Millennium Station. EB 12:00am departure from Millennium Station to Munster/Dyer. The situation is fluid and evolving, and updates regarding Friday, June 26, train service will be made as soon as information is confirmed.
