The Lakeshore Corridor route, frequently referred to as the South Shore Line, runs between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana. Intermediate stops are made in Hammond, Gary, and Michigan City.

7/18/26 MILLENNIUM STATION: Millennium Station depot switch effective Saturday, July 18, 2026: Between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, 7/18/26, all SSL passengers utilizing Millennium Station will temporarily board/detrain from the Metra Depot at Millennium, located northwest of the SSL platform. During this time, Metra will be performing work in the SSL depot. After 5 p.m. Saturday, passengers will return to utilizing the SSL platform.

7/17/26 WEEKDAY SERVICE RESUMES: EFFECTIVE AT 3:01 AM FRIDAY, JULY 17, 2026, regular Monday-Friday weekday South Shore Line train service will resume following the successful completion of recovery efforts related to a June 24 freight train derailment near East Chicago. Along with the restoration of Lakeshore Corridor and Monon Corridor weekday train service on July 17, busing substitution between East Chicago and Hammond Gateway will conclude at the end of service Thursday, July 16. A weekend/holiday schedule and temporary busing will remain in place until end of service Thursday, 7/16.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE, BUSING IN EFFECT: Passengers are advised that the South Shore Line will continue Lakeshore Corridor and Monon Corridor service with the operation of a WEEKEND/HOLIDAY train schedule, with busing between Hammond Gateway and East Chicago stations. The bus bridge will be in place for eastbound and westbound passengers at East Chicago & Hammond Gateway. No bikes will be permitted on buses. Buses will arrive and depart with passengers between Hammond and East Chicago stations according to the SSL published train schedule. Please be advised significant delays are expected due to the busing.
